National Prayer for Life Campaign and Cardinal O'Connor

May 3rd, marked the 10th Anniversary of the entrance into eternal life of John Cardinal O’Connor. Many were able to be present and share in this day of great glory and celebration for a splendid life and legacy left us by this wonderful man. Priesthood Ordination Weekend


Join the seminarians from St. Joseph's Seminary and St. John Neumann Seminary College as we attend the Ordination to Priesthood of 7 Archdiocese of New York Seminarians and 3 Friars of the Renewal by Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan. Arrival at Dunwoodie is at 5:00 PM Friday, May 14, 2010, and all will conclude at approximately 5:00 PM on Saturday, May 15, 2010. The overnight will include Evening Prayer where those men to be ordained make their Profession of Faith and take their Oaths of Fidelity, a Preached Holy Hour to the seminarians, the 9:00 AM Saturday Ordination at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Seminary Luncheon and First Blessings in our cloister. Dress will be collared shirt, khakis and shoes Friday evening and Jacket and Tie with Shoes on Saturday.

Annual St. Joseph's Mass and Dinner for Priestly Vocations


St. Joseph's Seminary will host the annual Mass and Dinner for Priestly Vocations on Friday, March 19, 2009. His Excellency, Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan will offer Mass at 5:00 PM. Tours of the seminary will be available starting at 3:30 PM. Dinner will end approximately 8:00 PM with tours available afterwards, too. Young men in grades 8-12 are invited to attend with their priest(s). For more information and to register, please contact the Vocations office at (914) 968-1340 or vocations@archny.org.

Spring "Come & See" Discernment Weekend: March 26 - 28, 2010


"Come and See" Vocation Discernment Weekends at St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers are designed to allow you the opportunity to pray about a possible vocation to the diocesan priesthood for the Archdiocese of New York. It will afford a man a chance to speak with others discerning a call, an opportunity to hear from and to speak with seminarians both in theology and philosophy who have just entered or are preparing for Priesthood Ordination, as well as a chance to hear from a young priest about his experiences in the ministry. For those who have completed a Discernment Weekend, there will be an abbreviated schedule to allow more time for reflection. We usually end the Spring Weekend with Palm Sunday Mass with the Archbishop at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick. Cathedral Prep's March Weekend


After another weekend of 20 high school young men on our February Prep Weekend, we are looking forward to March! It will be held on March 19, 20 & 21. This will be a special weekend - it will begin with our annual 5:00 PM Mass and Dinner (with your parish priests only) for Vocations with Archbishop Dolan on the Solemnity of St. Joseph's. Saturday, we will head to the Archdiocesan Youth Congress at Stepinac High School. And Sunday we head down to St. Patrick's Cathedral for Archbishop Dolan's Mass - families are most welcome to join us! We conclude back at the seminary after lunch (families welcome) at 2:00 PM (please RSVP). The Prep Weekend is a chance for a young man to draw closer to the Lord Jesus and to experience good fraternity with others considering the call. There will be conferences, Confession, Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, sports and opportunities to meet seminarians. All high school age young men interested in a vocation to the priesthood are encouraged to attend the weekend at St. Joseph's Seminary. College Associates Advent/Christmas Overnight


For all Discerners in our College Associates Program, especially those coming back home from school at the end of this semester, we will have an Advent/Christmas vocations overnight from Tuesday, December 22 through Wednesday, December 23. Neumann Seminarians Sing Biebel’s Ave Maria


41 Seminarians of the St. John Neumann Seminary College at St. Joseph's Seminary, Dunwoodie, sing Biebel's Ave Maria at the Annual Lessons and Carols on Monday, November 30th. The Archbishop liked it so much they will be singing at St. Patrick's Cathedral on Sunday, December 13th at the 10:15 AM High Mass.

Cathedral Prep December Weekend: Cardinal Egan and visit to NYC for Christmas Sights and Sounds


For the December Prep Weekend on the 11, 12 & 13th, His Eminence Edward Cardinal Egan, Retired Archbishop of New York, will offer Mass lead us in our Advent conferences.

Arrival will be from 4:30 PM - 9:00 PM on Friday (your family members are welcome to stay for 6:30 PM dinner). On Saturday we will travel down to Midtown Manhattan to visit with His Eminence and to spend the remainder of the day seeing the sights and sounds of the Christmas Season. On Sunday we conclude our weekend with a Family Mass at 10:00 AM with His Eminence Cardinal Egan followed by breakfast for all. The Prep Weekend is a chance for a young man to draw closer to the Lord Jesus and to experience good fraternity with others considering the call. There will be conferences, Confession, Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, sports and opportunities to meet seminarians. All high school age young men interested in a vocation to the priesthood are encouraged to attend the weekend at St. Joseph's Seminary.

Saint John Neumann Seminary College Come and See Weekend


This Come and See Weekend (November 20-21-22) will be a chance for a young man, ages 16-20, who is already thinking of entering the seminary, to visit the Saint John Neumann Seminary College. It is open to those planning on applying to the Archdiocese of New York, as well as to those who will be applying to other dioceses or religious communities. The weekend will look at the Neumann Program, provide the opportunity to hear from Neumann seminarians about life in the community, go on-site to 2 college campuses where our seminarians study, and it will end in New York City with Sunday Mass offered by Archbishop Timothy Dolan.

Discernment Weekend - November 2009


Fr. Luke Sweeney and Fr. Luis Saldaña will lead the Fall Discernment Weekend for men ages 18 and up from the 13th to the 15th of November 2009. The weekend starts with 6:00 PM Evening Prayer in our magnificent chapel on Friday afternoon and will conclude about 2:00 PM on Sunday.
It is an opportunity to meet and to speak with other young men who are considering this profound calling to the Priesthood. There are also chances to meet with seminarians, both those who have recently taken the step out of the world and into the seminary, and those getting ready to step back out of the seminary and into parish life as priests. We will discuss who a priest is and what promises a priest takes (obedience and celibacy). There will also be an opportunity to hear a few young diocesan priests tell us what it has been like for them offering the sacraments, preaching, visiting and being with their parishioners whose souls have been entrusted to them.

A Prominent Priest on a Sainted Priest for the ‘Year for Priests’


Father George Rutler will give the first Dunwoodie Lecture of the Season on Tuesday, October 6th at 7:30 PM. The event at St. Joseph's Seminary (201 Seminary Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704) is free and open to the public.
